I am an avid and dedicated writer. Currently, I write a weekly newspaper column, an ongoing documentation of a family horse and cattle ranch, various freelance assignments, and am working on a memoir. I write to connect readers with my own awe of this wide, wild world.
As well as my book, Box Turtles, Hooligans, and Love, Sweet Love, I have co-authored several books with my writers' group, the Mystic Order of East Alabama Fiction Writers.
After a long hiatus, I've found myself returning to my first love: horses. This return has brought a fundamental shift in my soul. I ride often, and work closely with a trainer. Finding everything about good horsemanship to be good humanship, my connection to horses permeates my writing and my life.
My head is always in the clouds, or the marshes, or the dirt. I love this planet, her wondrous creatures, her seas and trees and microbes. As a naturalist, I observe the natural world carefully and find purpose and connection in everything she offers. I believe love is the path to healing our planet, and I write with this mission.
